Royal County of Films: Windsor

To celebrate my sister’s 16th birthday, my family and I took a day trip to Windsor. We saw the outside of the Windsor Castle and walked around the Royal shopping centre. We had a boat ride booked aboard The French Brothers boat from 14:30-16:00. Along the boat journey, I learnt some facts that I would like to share with you.

 

Five Facts about Windsor

In 1885, the District line ran from Ealing Broadway to Windsor. It was a Great British railway route.

The Windsor Castle is ‘home’ to The Queen of England. Although she currently lives in Buckingham Palace in London.

Racing is popular in Windsor and racing is hosted some weekends during the summer.

The racecourse was used to film the racing games for the London 2012 Olympics.

A ship has to pass 25 locks, which would take 48hrs to get to Oxford.

 

Five Film Facts about Windsor

Bride & Prejudice, Goldfinger and Bridget Jones’s Diary filmed in Stoke Park.

St Trinians and The Rocky Horror Show filmed in Oakley Court Hotel.

Hammar Productions used cottage houses by the river than to build sets.

Suffragette filmed on the Royal Windsor Racecourse.

The Windsor Great Park was filmed in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2.
