The Skills Show – for those considering apprenticeships and careers options, 17-19th November 2016 at the NEC Birmingham was a date to save in the diary. Each of the three days were jam-packed with feature exhibitors, career talks, careers advice hotspots, live stage shows, employability workshops, have a go areas, UK Competitions National Finals and more fun activities!

The Skills Show is the UK’s largest skills and careers event to attend and be inspired by the abundance of talent, advice from exhibitors and help available to find your dream career.

More and more young people are looking towards apprenticeships and traineeship schemes as an alternative to going university. At the time of looking, there were 28,000 live vacancies posted on the National GOV Apprenticeship website and the number of apprenticeship vacancies are set to rise. On-the-job training and learning can equip you with the necessary skills, contacts and qualifications without getting into debt. It’s a foot in the door and an opportunity to have an entry-role job.

The Skills Show was set up into five sector zones, all containing a wealth of information on the industry and opportunities available. The industries were – Media & Creative, I.T. & Enterprise, Engineering & Technology, Construction & Infrastructure and Hospitality & Lifestyle. To view the latest vacancies, search the websites of the exhibitors.
