HSBC UK Cycling Championships

Taking place in a single day was the 2017 British National Omnium  Championships. Many supporters arrived bright and early at Derby Arena this morning to watch the set up and be part of the excitement in the air.

Sponsored by HSBC, the track cycling competition was made up of four races, with separate competitions for male and female riders. The races include: 10km/7.5km Scratch, 10km/7.5km Tempo, Elimination and 25km/20km Points.

The winner of the Omnium was the rider who obtained the highest total of points. Rules are regulated by British Cycling and UCI. The event was a total of 8hrs running time, starting around 10am, in Derby Arena’s Velodrome.

Silver winning Rio Olympic cyclist Mark Cavendish competed in the championships.
