Notting Hill Carnival ’17

Whose Carnival Is It? Our Carnival!

One Cultural Nation. One United Kingdom

Carnival Poem
A time of year to parade the West London streets

#NottingHillCarnival trending with tweets

Full of life, we dance, cheer and sing

Colourful attires, vibes, food and community spirit we bring

In celebration of black contribution in Britain

From generations back we thank our family citizens

Communities come together as one love

In remembrance of Grenfell, local residents and MPs released dozens of doves

One minute silence for the victims who remain in our thoughts and heart

Bridge Over Troubled Water song performed at the start

Policeman grooves his best moves to carnival music

DJ speakers vibes the streets to make the people dem tick

We proudly watch and follow the floats with stride

Embracing sisters and brothers by our side

Let us remember the legacy of the mother of Notting Hill Carnival, Claudia Jones

Organiser of the first carnival, for hope & reconciliation with inspiring leadership tone
